IPCH members attend symposium on Merdardo Rosso at the Center for Italian Modern Art

November 11, 2014

Dr. Erin Mysak and Chelsea Graham attended a symposium that addressed a recent investigation into Medardo Rosso’s approach to serial sculpture, focused on the Bambino Ebreo, at the Center for Italian Modern Art (CIMA) in New York City. Medardo Rosso was discussed as a Sculptor-Founder, and his works of Serial Sculpture were also addressed from a material perspective based on analysis by XRF, GC-MS and 3D scanning. This symposium offered an opportunity for scholars to discuss parallels with a current research project in which multiple marble busts of Alexander Pope by Francois Roubiliac are being compared at IPCH and YCBA.
