December 4, 2014

At the conference Riskhantering och kulturvård (Risk management and conservation), co-organized by the Swedish State Board of Antiquities (Riskantikvarieämbetet) in collaboration with Gothenburg University and private partners in Saltsjöbaden, Sweden, IPCH Director Stefan Simon gave an invited lecture on December 1, 2014, entitled, How to translate artefact conditions into numbers: measured data and other observations. The focus of the lecture was that transparent and reproducible measurements, as well as records of conditions of objects and sites and not only of the surrounding environment, are critical for establishing key criteria of preventive conservation and maintenance cycles.
