Desiree Dibasen Nanuses is the Founder and Executive Director of The Curatorial Institute in Namibia. Prior to this she worked as a curator at the National Art Gallery of Namibia (NAGN) for over a decade and was named Acting Chief Curator & Collections Curator at the NAGN in 2020. She has completed fellowships at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with the International Committee for Museums of Ethnography, and as an International Council of Museums Fellow. Desiree has also served as an Executive Board Member for the Museums Association of Namibia and on the Namibia Heritage Council Committee. She currently serves as a consultant and decolonial specialist with a UK- based Architecture Firm, a researcher for Open Restitution Africa, and Course Leader at Kingston University London. Desiree has produced multiple publications on decolonial curatorial practices and holds a Master of Arts degree in Curating Contemporary Design. She is a Ph.D. candidate (2020/23) in Fine Art Curatorial Practice.
