Kwame Akoto-Bamfo is the Founder of the Nkyinkyim Museum in Ada Foah, Ghana. He is an award-winning Ghanaian multidisciplinary artist, educator, and cultural activist. Kwame’s work typically archives historical African living experience while protesting the legacies of African enslavement and colonialism. He takes his art into the heart of the community by often exhibiting in public spaces rather than art galleries. His work can be viewed at Nkyinkyim Installation in Ghana, Legacy Museum, and the National Monument for Peace and Justice in Alabama, USA. In 2021, his Blank Slate Monument toured the U.S., including stops in Louisville, Times Square - New York, and the King Center in Atlanta, among other stops. Kwame is the creator of Nkyinkyim Za: Creative Communal Labour Festival, Ancestor Veneration Ceremony, and Freedom Parade Festivals. Kwame is currently working actively on creating healing spaces for people of African descent in Ghana, USA, Costa Rica, and Liberia.
