Sylvia Arthur is Founder of the Library of Africa and the African Diaspora (LOATAD) in Accra, Ghana, where she leads a library, archive, residency, and research institute dedicated to preserving African and Diaspora literary heritage. Through her work, she has built an internationally recognized institution that safeguards African intellectual and cultural histories and has created opportunities for writers, scholars, and researchers to engage with them through archival and residency-based programming. Previously, she created A Women’s Oral History of West Africa, a landmark project documenting the experiences of women across the region, and founded the Narrative Equity Institute to support the long-term preservation of these histories.
